777ӰԺ joins nationwide campaign to support local communities

777ӰԺ is proud to have joined a national initiative to help its staff and students support and connect with the local communities in and around Bristol.

The Good for Me, Good for FE campaign aims to generate £1million of through a sustainable programme of community action including volunteering, fundraising and charitable partnerships.

More than 100 colleges have already joined the campaign, building on the huge success of FE Foodbank Friday, which saw colleges around the country come together during the pandemic to raise more than £47,000 and collect more than 20,000 items for local food banks.

With demand for food banks remaining high, this strand of activity will continue as part of the Good for Me, Good for FE campaign, to ensure communities continue to be supported with basic food needs.

In addition, staff and students who are keen to undertake voluntary and fundraising activities will be supported to do so. There is a strong link between volunteering and improved mental health – a current key priority for colleges and their staff following such a challenging year.

777ӰԺ’s Vice Principal, Corporate Services and External Relations, Joanne Ward, said: “Colleges like ours play a vital role in the diverse local communities we serve; transforming people’s lives through education and training. As Bristol’s College, we welcome people from across the City, and beyond, and see first-hand the support local people need.

Joining the Good for Me, Good for FE campaign allows us to showcase the great work our students and staff already do to help people, whether that is providing food and toiletries to those in need, supporting around mental health and wellbeing or a wide range of other volunteering activities.”

There are many College staff who already do lots of volunteering outside of work.  We have staff who lead sport teams, marshal at events, look after those in need and litter pick.  The list of volunteering opportunities is endless and this all supports the local community.  Many of our students also volunteer in a range of ways and we support and encourage students to do something that they are passionate about.

The Good for Me, Good for FE campaign is being spearheaded by London South East Colleges, East Coast College and Loughborough College. A list of colleges involved can be found here: .
